San Juan Island Sailing Foundation Board Meeting April 6, 2010
Present: Scott Boye, Peter and Susan Risser, Nigel Oswald, Mary Blevins, Barb Bevens, Abbie Finney, Tony Vivenzio

Scott called the meeting to order at 5:42.
Barb moved, Mary seconded to accept the March minutes as written. Passed.
Mary gave the treasurer’s report. We have a total of $10,550.00, which includes $2,260.00 in memorial funds, $872.00 in restricted funds, $3,336.24 in sailing team (but we owe about $900.00 to the coach), and $4081.58 in general funds. Mary prodded board members about the challenge.
Scott reported on the Island Cup race on Orcas: there were 25 Vanguard 15’s racing. They ran 20 races over 2 days. Orcas won.
Island Rec report: The program guide will be out soon. Sally has Pablo Lopez signed up as the summer instructor and is still looking for an assistant instructor. Sign ups for the classes start on line May 1, 2010.
Nigel presented the membership information. We have 31 paid members right now.
The fundraiser dinner will be April 27 at the San Juan Island Yacht Club. We stuffed envelopes with invitations to mail out.
Scott moved, Peter seconded that the Sailing Foundation pay the tuition for the Bob Swartzberger presentation on fundraising. Abbie will attend it on April 27, from 8:30 to 4:30 P.M. Passed except for Abbie abstaining.
We need a general discussion on fundraising and how to channel our money: what goes to the sailing team, what to maintenance, new boat purchases, etc.
Peter reported that he has had no success finding potential new board members.
Scott has not yet sold the Avon.
Scott and Peter will work on training for our motorboat operator.
We will have election of officers for 2010 next meeting. Present officers are: President is Peter Risser, Vice President is Scott Boye, Secretary is Susan Risser, and Treasurer is Mary Blevins.
Barbara Bevens is now through with her term as board member. This is her last meeting. We thank her a lot for her service.
