Back When? Years ago!

When did it all start? A generation ago! The San Juan Island Sailing Foundation was formally founded nearly two decades ago. What started as teaching lessons in three donated El Toros on Sportsman's Lake has grown into an organization with year-round programs. In an encouraging and somewhat surprising manner, the foundation is starting to see children of past sailing students now taking classes - a whole generation of islanders has learned to sail with the San Juan Island Sailing Foundation!

The history has many facets; students that have enjoyed the many classes, donors of time and money to keep programs running smoothly and the people who work hard behind the scenes sitting on the endless hours of board meetings are the people that make the foundation tick.
