Who Again? Who are we?

"Who is staring at the sea is already sailing a little." - Paul Carvel

San Juan Island Sailing Foundation is a volunteer community service organization whose mission is to advance sailing on San Juan Island and the immediate vicinity.

  1. We do this by partnering with Island Rec., San Juan Yacht Club and the Friday Harbor Sailing Club to provide sailing classes for the youth and adults. We provide the sailing instructors and the equipment needed to make the classes run efficiantly. Without the administrative expertise of Island Rec. and the financial support of the Yacht and Sailing club these classes would not work.
  2. We provide the opportunities for community sailing and membership sailing through our Saturday Open House in May, the Racing Series that runs on Thursdays evenings in May and June and Cascade Camp-Out on Orcas Island in September.
  3. We provide and safe sailing venue on percich Pond and Jackson's Beach. Percich Pond is where we hold our basic and introduction classes on the fresh water and Jackson's Beach and the Net Shed is where the more advanced sailors hone their skills and where the high school sailing team practices.

How do we do it? Who supports us? What do we do it for? When does it all happen? Where is the best sailing? Why do we do it?
