| Cascade Lake in Review |
What was going on? Sailing, Biking and Eating! Last weekend the weather was great and the sailing even better. Thanks to all that could make it to the annual fun in the sun on Orcas. We had a great turn out and a lot of kids to sail in boats. If you are kicking yourself for not going then you should put it on your schedule now for next year! |
| Membership Renewal |
Why renew my membership? To support the Sailing Foundation and youth sailing on San Juan Island! Cascade Lake Camp Out was a push for some of the current members to renew their memberships to the Sailing Foundation, if you did not get your membership in then take this as a reminder to renew soon. As you know the Sailing Foundation is a non-profit organization that requires support from all of its members. Your money will be used in many ways but the overall mission is to keep the youth of our island sailing. We need to buy new boats, and maintain the fleets to the best of our abilities. If you wait to long to renew you just might have to pay more! Prices are on the web page! Just click on the link to the right. SJISF Memberships |
| Website update | Where is our web site? Why it is at www.sanjuansailing.org! There have been a few updates to the new web site. If you haven't seen the changes over the last year then you should take the time to see what changes have been taking place not only to the web site but to the Sailing Foundation itself. New in the last few months have been the addition of the meeting minutes. As soon as our trustworthy secretary sends them in the email to all the board members they are then published to the world. Check them out, if you have dumped your emails before you read them, we got you covered. If you are not on the board but are interested in knowing what the Foundation is up to, then read all the details by date of the meetings right on the home page. SJISF Board Meeting Minutes Classes in review for 2008 has been updated. The coming events page looks a bit different and so does the Sailing Team page. SJISF Home Page. Do you have information that needs to go on the web site? Well send it to us so that we can get all things sailing covered! |
| Fund Raising Plans | How can you help? Volunteers are needed! The board of the Sailing Foundation is excited to let everyone know that they are in the midst of laying out their plans for the future. Our "Development Director - as they are called in the real big world of non-profits" has been working all summer on plans to help the Sailing Foundation grow. There was a huge questionaire that the board filled out and now the results are in. Check back in November for the plans and current projections for the future. Our passion is sailing, and with your help our mission will continue and our vision for the future will grow! There will be plenty of opportunities to help in the growth of the Sailing Foundation, if you have an interest in sailing whether you have a child or grandchild in the youth program, are a sailor in the community looking to have a little fun or if you are looking to invest in the future of a child by donating scholarship money then this is the perfect time for you to get involved. There are many ways to help us out and we are eager to get started! Look for our master plan in the November newsletter. |

New Orleans
|
Why New Orleans? Sailors on a mission! This year the first week of November is the annual trip to New Orleans. In the past our sailing team has gone and competed at this national level regatta, they have also come home with many new ideas and techniques they have learned to cross the finish line on top. This year November 7-12 four of our local girls will compete along with the other high school sailors from around the U.S. Our fund raising is just about to come to a close and the tickets will soon be purchased for airfare and entry but we are still excited about the opportunity that has been provided by the Sailing Foundation and by donations from around the island. We have had several individuals and businesses step up to donate time and dollars for the trip and we wanted to take the time to Thank them here in the newsletter. The list is long and distinguished so if you have not gotten you Thank you card in the mail then please consider this one of the greatest gifts you have given a sailor. The girls will give a complete run down of the trip and what they learned and will be sending out pictures with their individual thank you's when they return. We will also be posting photos and comments to the sailing team web page as soon as we return. Thanks again, every bit of funding has been appreciated by us all! Dez!, Abbey, Catherine, Bonnie, Angela and Caitlyn |
