Thank you for visiting our donation page. With the generous support of our community the San Juan Island Sailing Foundation provides fun and challenging sailing opportunities to youths and adults regardless of their financial circumstances. We have been a state incorporated nonprofit since 1996 and are recognized by the IRS as a public charity.
Your donation helps us provide sailors of all levels with the joys and skills of sailing. We supply and maintain the boats, equipment, coaching and volunteers to allow our San Juan Island middle & high school kids to advance their sailing skills and compete at regional regattas. We support the San Juan Island Parks and Rec by providing all the sailboats, equipment and volunteers for summer sailing lessons. We also sponsor community summer sailing.
Our foundation work is almost entirely volunteer supported, except for the team sailing coach position. Even then our coach is offering services at a great discount, motivated by a passion to share the love of sailing with others. We try to make your charitable contributions go as far as possible. Some of our largest costs are for insurance, equipment, and sailing team related expenses.
Some of our high school sailing team members have competed in national sailing competitions and some have gone on to join America’s Cup sailboat building teams. Many have developed long-lived passions for sailing.
